I'm Certified Professional Editor (CPE), a writer, a communicator, a book lover, and a language nerd.

Editorial experience

As a CPE, I'm certified in structural editing, stylistic editing, copy editing, and proofreading. (Not sure what the difference is? See Types of Editing.) The Editors Canada certification is the gold standard in editing; it's awarded for excellence, not just proficiency, and identifies "editors who are masters of their craft."

I love to work with authors to help them tell their stories, whether looking at the big picture or the tiny details. I've edited manuscripts for publishers and independent authors, in both fiction and non-fiction—visit my portfolio page for selected published works.

Clients have praised me for my gentle yet thorough approach, my extreme attention to detail, and my knack for improving their writing while keeping their voice intact. I've had some really rewarding experiences with authors in which we truly worked in partnership, and I look forward to many more. Please visit my testimonial page to read what authors have said about our work together.

Corporate Experience

Before I launched my freelance career at the end of 2016, I spent seventeen years working for three of the world’s biggest companies: General Electric, Aon, and Deloitte. I've written for four CEOs and launched three intranet portals. I've worked on complex business content on a variety of industries and topics, including professional services, healthcare/life sciences, technology, innovation, employee benefits/pensions, insurance, investments, customer analytics, and loyalty marketing. I've written and edited articles, executive memos, points of view/white papers, case studies, blog posts and other web copy, presentations, speeches, letters, proposals, executive summaries, briefings, Q&As, brochures, sell sheets, product overviews, editorial style guides, and more.

About me

I have a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (a past life!), a post-grad certificate in magazine publishing, all kinds of corporate communications and leadership training—and I'm constantly upgrading my writing/editing skills through books, courses, and online discussion groups. I'm a passionate reader, leaning mainly toward literary fiction and mystery/thriller with a dash of sci-fi, time-travel, and dystopia, as well as the occasional dip into business, self-improvement, or parenting books. I also enjoy singing, playing guitar, solving and constructing crossword puzzles, watching TV dramas, supporting youth baseball, working out, doing yoga, and hiking. I live in Toronto with my husband, two teenage kids, and a cat and a dog.
